- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly flour the surface and roll out the dough into a large, thin rectangle, about 12x8 inches. This provides a smooth, even base for shaping the mummy.
- Using your hands or a knife, cut strips of dough about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. These strips will form the bandages of your mummy. Gather all the strips before proceeding.
- Place the dough rectangle onto the prepared baking sheet. Arrange the first strip horizontally near the top of the rectangle, then layer subsequent strips slightly overlapping, to create a bandage wrapping effect across the entire base. Leave a space at the top for the face area.
- Cross and crisscross the strips in a playful, uneven fashion, gently pressing each into the dough to secure the shape. Cover most of the surface, leaving the top section clear for the face and eyes.
- Bake the shaped dough in the oven until it's golden brown and cooked through, about 12-15 minutes. The crust should be crisp and slightly puffed at the edges. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- Brush the top lightly with olive oil to give it a shiny, finished look. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the surface, covering the entire mummy except for the face area.
- Cut two small slices from black olives to create eyes. Place each olive slice on the face area, spacing them evenly apart to give the mummy a playful, spooky expression.
- Return the pizza to the oven for another 3-5 minutes, until the cheese melts and bubbles slightly. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
- Remove the mummy pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into sections or serve whole as a fun, spooky centerpiece for your holiday table.
Notes
For extra spookiness, add more olives or use different colored ingredients for the eyes. You can also customize the bandage pattern for a more chaotic look.
