Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lime juice preferably freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur such as Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1 cup tequila silver or blanco tequila
  • 2 cups ice cubes for blending
  • 1 tbsp sugar optional, to enhance sweetness

Equipment

  • Freezer
  • Blender

Method

  1. Pour lime juice, orange liqueur, tequila, and sugar into a baking dish or a shallow container.
  2. Place the mixture in the freezer for at least 4 hours, until it’s fully frozen solid.
  3. Break the frozen mixture into smaller chunks using a spoon or spatula to help it blend smoothly.
  4. Add the frozen chunks to a blender along with ice cubes.
  5. Blend on high until the mixture is velvety, smooth, and ice-crystal free, about 30-60 seconds.
  6. Stop the blender and check the texture—if it’s too thick, add a splash of lime juice to loosen it slightly and blend again.
  7. Pour the slushie into chilled glasses, garnish with lime wedges if desired, and serve immediately for the best icy texture.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, rim glasses with salt or sugar before pouring the slushie. You can also add fresh fruit or herbs for flavor variation.
